About this board game
Tranquility is a cooperative card game for 1–5 players that takes about 20 minutes to play. Working in complete silence, players fill the sea with numbered island cards and guide the ship home to a special island.
The team must complete a grid whose numbers ascend from the bottom left to the top right. Players win together by completing the grid and placing both a Start card and a Finish card. If any player can no longer play or discard cards legally, everyone loses.
Play proceeds clockwise, with the quietest player taking the first turn. On each turn, a player must choose one action:
- Play one card into the grid.
- Discard two cards.
After taking an action, the player draws back up to a hand of five cards. Communication is not allowed, so every move must be made without discussion or spoken coordination.
When a card is placed next to an existing card in the sequence, the player must discard cards face down equal to the difference between the two numbers. For example, placing a 5 next to a 3 requires two cards to be discarded from the player’s hand. This rule applies even when the cards are positioned on different rows.
With its ascending grid, shared win condition, and strict silence rule, Tranquility turns simple card placement into a quiet cooperative challenge. Every player must manage their hand while helping the group complete the route home before available actions run out.
