About this board game

Imperium: Horizons is a 1–4 player civilization game with an approximate play time of 160 minutes, challenging you to guide one of fourteen radically asymmetric civilizations toward becoming the most dominant empire in history.

Your people face constant threats as you seek to conquer new lands, oversee dramatic scientific and cultural advances, and build an enduring empire. Expand too quickly and unrest may bring your civilization to its knees; move too slowly and you risk becoming a footnote of history.

Each civilization offers a unique and challenging experience in both multiplayer and solo games. Imperium: Horizons is a standalone game featuring civilizations including the Abbasid, Aksumite, Cultist, Gupta, Inuit, Japanese, Magyar, Martian, Mayan, Polynesian, Sassanid, Taino, Tang, and Wagadou.

  • Fourteen asymmetric civilizations with distinct challenges
  • Competitive multiplayer and solo play
  • A new trade module focused on intrigue, wealth generation, and dynamic politics
  • Compatibility with Imperium: Classics and Imperium: Legends

The game unfolds over a series of rounds. On each turn, players choose to activate, innovate, or revolt, then clean up before play passes to the player on the left. Turn order is tracked by the solstice card, and a round ends when that card lies between the current player and the next player.

Play continues until scoring or collapse is triggered. The player with the most victory points wins, making every decision about expansion, advancement, unrest, and trade part of your civilization’s path through history. With its standalone content and expandable civilization pool, Imperium: Horizons offers a broad setting for empire-building competition.
