About this board game
Eurorails is a crayon railway game for 2–6 players, with play taking about 240 minutes. Set across a puzzle-piece map of Europe, it challenges players to build rail systems, transport commodities, and generate enough money to achieve the game’s goal.
Players use different-colored crayons to draw rail from dot to dot, gradually creating their own routes across the continent. A large deck of cards determines which commodity can be picked up and which city it must reach, along with the amount of money the delivery generates.
Delivery values are related to the distance between the source and destination. As players earn more money, they can create successively larger and more comprehensive rail systems, working toward connections with almost all the major cities shown on the map.
- Players: 2–6
- Play time: approximately 240 minutes
- Setting: a dot-based map of Europe
- Core mechanics: draw rail routes, pick up commodities, and deliver them to listed cities
The game’s central challenge comes from linking locations while choosing delivery opportunities that help build financial momentum. Each completed delivery supports the expansion of a growing railway network, bringing players closer to the required total.
To win in Eurorails, a player must generate a set amount of money after linking all the major cities. Released in 1990, it is part of Mayfair Games’ crayon rail game series, alongside Empire Builder and India Rails.
