About this board game
Horus Heresy is a two-player strategy game with an approximately 135-minute playing time, recreating the legendary battle between the Emperor’s loyalists and the traitor forces of Warmaster Horus.
Players take control of either side as the conflict rages across the razed plains of Terra and in the frozen orbit above. Battles stretch from the Emperor’s golden Inner Palace to Horus’s flagship, the Vengeful Spirit, placing the fate of the Warhammer 40,000 universe in the hands of two commanders.
Armies include fearless Space Marine legions, Chaos Space Marines, mighty Titans, Imperial forces, and other powerful units. The Emperor and Horus can also take the field, while daemons of Chaos and specialized units bring distinctive abilities to the struggle.
- Order and initiative system: Carefully consider every command before committing forces to action.
- Card-driven combat: Escalating damage and resource allocation create dramatic choices between attack and defense.
- Three-dimensional battlefield: Sculpted terrain portrays Terra’s magma-filled crevasses, formidable fortifications, and the Imperial Palace.
- Six scenarios: Different difficulties and styles offer varied ways to recreate the battle for Terra.
Over one hundred sculpted plastic playing pieces bring the conflict vividly to life. The detailed terrain rises above the map, creating an immersive battlefield where fortifications protect the Imperial player from assaults and orbital bombardments.
The introductory Brother Against Brother scenario provides predetermined starting locations and a balanced version of the battle, while also offering a roughly historical recreation of the conflict’s events. In Horus Heresy, brother fights brother and the universe hangs in the balance.
