About this board game
Ascension: Realms Unraveled is a deck-building game for 1–4 players that plays in about 30 minutes. Players acquire cards from a central pool, add them to their discard piles, and later shuffle them into their decks for future turns.
Creatures appear in the shared card pool, giving players opportunities to fight for victory points and additional benefits. These rewards can help remove less useful cards from a deck or banish cards from the pool before another player can acquire them.
The game introduces multi-faction heroes, expanding the faction system found in earlier Ascension games. Its Multi-Unite mechanism rewards players who play multiple heroes from the same faction, creating opportunities for substantial rewards when matching factions come together.
- Deck building: Acquire cards from a central pool and develop your deck over the course of the game.
- Creature combat: Defeat creatures to claim victory points and possible additional benefits.
- Multi-Unite: Combine heroes from the same faction for enhanced rewards.
- Transform: Convert cards into new, more powerful versions as the game progresses.
The Transform mechanism, first introduced in Ascension: Darkness Unleashed, lets cards become stronger versions during play. This gives your deck another way to develop as the game advances.
Ascension: Realms Unraveled works as a standalone game and includes solitaire rules. It can also be combined with any other Ascension game, supporting up to six players when used as an expansion.
The game ends when all available victory points have been claimed or when the shared deck of cards runs out. Players then compare the victory points they have earned to determine the result.
