About this board game

Dragonwood is a 2015 game for 2–4 players that takes about 20 minutes, challenging adventurers to collect card combinations and roll dice to capture creatures and enhancements.

Deep in the mythical forest, angry ogres, giggling goblins, fire ants, trolls, and fearsome dragons await. On each turn, choose whether to draw an Adventurer card or attempt to capture one of the creatures or enhancements in the changing landscape.

Adventurer cards come in five colors and are numbered from 1 to 12. Combine them in one of three ways to earn dice for an attack:

• Strike: cards in numerical sequence of any color.
• Stomp: cards showing the same number.
• Scream: cards of the same color.

Each target requires a different minimum result for a Strike, Stomp, or Scream, and successful captures award Victory Points. Roll a number of dice equal to the number of cards in your chosen combination, then decide whether to pursue a smaller, reliable target or save cards for a more powerful attack.

The six custom six-sided dice show 1, 2, 2, 3, 3, and 4, reducing the impact of extremely lucky rolls. The Dragonwood deck contains 42 cards, with five displayed in the landscape at any time. Alongside creatures, it includes enhancements that help with future captures and events that affect play.

As the deck changes, every game of Dragonwood presents new choices. When both dragons have been defeated, the game ends, and the player with the most Victory Points wins.
