About this board game
Mall of Horror is a negotiation and survival board game for 3–6 players, played in about 60 minutes. Each player controls three characters trapped in a shopping mall invaded by hundreds of hungry zombies.
The goal is not to kill the most zombies. Instead, players must move from place to place, seeking temporary safety in areas the zombies have not yet reached. Every character has a different ability and is worth a certain number of points at the end of the game if they survive.
Each location in the mall has its own characteristics. Locations can hold different numbers of characters and may offer bonus items that improve a player’s chances of survival. When enough zombies reach a location, the players there must decide who will be eaten.
- Control a blonde, a bad boy, and a brute.
- Negotiate, lie, form alliances, and betray other players.
- Vote on who will be sacrificed when a location is overrun.
- Choose who becomes the new chief of security.
- Decide who searches the van for valuable goods and first aid material.
Players may also compete for control of the security H.Q. and bargain over access to useful resources. Deals can shape the outcome of each vote, whether or not players ultimately keep their promises.
With no room for the weak, every decision can affect which characters remain alive and which players score points. In Mall of Horror, survival depends on choosing the right shelter, making timely agreements, and deciding who will be thrown to the zombies so the rest of the group can escape.
