About this expansion

Rune Age: Oath and Anvil is a 2012 expansion for Rune Age for 2–4 players, with games lasting about 60 minutes. It introduces two new playable races, new units for the original factions, additional scenarios, and fresh Mercenary cards.

The dwarves of Dunwarr bring a talent for mining and a love of wealth to the game. They can quickly amass large sums of gold and turn that fortune into devastating attacks against their foes. The orcs of the Broken Plains take a very different approach, embracing a single-minded lust for combat.

Orc strategy rewards an all-or-nothing approach: emptying your hand to win captures their refusal to settle for a half measure. Together, these factions add distinct new ways to approach Rune Age’s deck-building challenges.

  • Dunwarr dwarves: Build wealth and convert gold into powerful attacks.
  • Broken Plains orcs: Empty your hand and commit fully to combat.
  • New faction units: Daqan Lords gain Cunning Novice Wizards and Roc Warriors, while the Latari Elves receive Leonx Riders and Forest Guardians.
  • Forces of evil: Waiqar the Undying gains Vampires and Barrow Wyrms, while the Uthuk add Blood Sisters and Obscenes.
  • More options: New scenarios and Mercenary cards test and expand your strategic choices.

The four original factions each gain formidable reinforcements that emphasize their established strengths. Daqan units support hand control, the Latari additions capitalize on influence, and new Waiqar and Uthuk forces strengthen the armies of evil.

With its contrasting races, expanded faction arsenals, and new scenarios, Rune Age: Oath and Anvil invites players to unite tribes, fire the forges, and experience Rune Age in a broader and more strategically varied form.
