About this board game
Four Gardens is a 2020 board game for 2–4 players, with games lasting about 45 minutes, in which players compete to build the most pristine garden around a mystical pagoda.
Set in a beautiful Eastern kingdom, the game places players in a contest to determine the queen’s heir. The crown will go to the person who earns the most points by pleasing the four Gods and completing an impressive garden surrounding their pagoda.
Players begin by laying groundwork cards, then acquire the resources needed to fulfill each card’s requirements. Resources are gathered by turning the game’s 3D pagoda, creating a distinctive way to collect what is needed for construction.
- Lay groundwork cards to establish your garden.
- Turn the 3D pagoda to acquire resources.
- Allocate resources to satisfy card requirements.
- Complete groundwork cards to transform them into landscape cards.
- Arrange landscape cards in the correct order to create panoramas.
Once a groundwork card has been satisfied, it becomes a landscape card. Multiple landscape cards placed in the correct order form a panorama—a finished set that creates a panoramic view of a garden and contributes to your score.
Each God has a separate satisfaction meter that reflects their goodwill toward the gardens and the people building them. Completing landscape cards and finishing panoramas helps players please these Gods while advancing toward the highest score on the scoreboard.
With its combination of resource gathering, card completion, set building, and ordered landscape arrangements, Four Gardens presents a focused competition for players seeking the queen’s crown.
