About this expansion

Age of Steam Expansion #3: Scandinavia and Korea is a 2004 expansion for 3–6 players, with an approximate play time of 120 minutes.

This expansion contains a two-sided board, offering two distinct maps to play: Scandinavia and Korea. Each side introduces a different feature to the Age of Steam setting.

  • Scandinavia: Sea routes connect with the map, and the additional Ferry action allows transport from one coastal city to another.
  • Korea: Cities have no inherent demand because none of them are colored. Instead, demand is determined by the colors of the cubes a city contains.

On the Scandinavian side, the Ferry action provides a specific way to transport between coastal cities, while the sea routes become part of the map’s available connections. This creates a clear distinction from the expansion’s other map without adding unrelated rules.

Korea uses a changing demand system tied directly to the cubes in each city. A city demands goods matching the colors of the cubes it contains, and when a city no longer has cubes of a particular color, its demand for that color is gone.

With its two-sided board, Age of Steam Expansion #3: Scandinavia and Korea gives players access to two map-specific systems: Scandinavian ferry transport and Korean cube-based demand. It is designed for 3–6 players and supports games lasting around 120 minutes.
