Barrage: Duel

About this expansion

Barrage: Duel is a two-player expansion for Barrage, designed for games lasting approximately 120 minutes. Released in 2024, it introduces a dedicated map and an optional Duel board that reshape the experience for head-to-head play.

The expansion can be played in two ways. Use the new map on its own for more competitive two-player challenges, or combine it with the additional components and the Duel board to introduce a new ruleset.

The dedicated map contains fewer basins, while some building spaces have increased costs. The spaces with higher costs change from game to game, adding variety to repeated sessions and requiring players to adapt to each setup.

When the Duel board is used, each game presents three conditions for the players to contest. These conditions are different from game to game, creating changing priorities throughout the match.

• Compete across three changing conditions.
• At the end of each round, the player who best satisfies a condition moves its marker toward their side.
• Keeping pace across every condition is important, since an opponent who gains ground can receive decisive advantages.

The Duel board encourages close attention to your opponent’s progress as you pursue the conditions that matter most in the current game. Its combination of variable building costs, fewer basins, and shifting contests gives Barrage: Duel a focused format for two players.

The base game Barrage is required to use this expansion. It can also be combined with the Barrage: Leeghwater Project expansion.
