About this expansion

7 Wonders: Edifice is an expansion for 3–7 players that adds communal construction projects to the classic civilization game, with play lasting about 30 minutes. Across three ages, players decide whether to contribute to shared edifices and earn rewards if those projects are completed.

The expansion includes fifteen edifice cards: five for each age. At setup, one card from each age is chosen at random and placed project-side up, showing its potential reward and penalty. Each project receives 2–5 participation markers, depending on the number of players.

Once during an age, when you construct a level of your wonder, you may pay the current edifice’s cost in addition to that level’s cost. You then take a participation marker from the project. When the last marker is removed, the edifice is constructed immediately, and every player receives the listed reward.

Choosing not to participate can have consequences. If one or more markers remain when the age ends, every player without a marker suffers the project’s penalty. When a player cannot pay the full amount, such as a five-coin cost, they instead take a debt token worth -2, -3, or -5 points according to the age.

  • Fifteen edifice cards, with five cards in each of Ages I, II, and III
  • Shared rewards when all participation markers are removed
  • Penalties and age-based debt tokens for players who do not participate
  • Two new double-sided wonders: Ur and Carthage

7 Wonders: Edifice also introduces two double-sided wonders. Ur can only be used with this expansion, while Carthage can be used in any game of 7 Wonders. The expansion is compatible with any edition of 7 Wonders.
