Istanbul: Kebab Shop Mini Expansion is an official expansion for Istanbul, supporting 2–5 players with an approximately 50-minute play time. Published in the European games magazine Spielbox, issue 3/14, this 2014 mini expansion replaces the Fountain from the original game.

The Kebab Shop is placed using the same rules as the Fountain, with one important placement restriction: it must be positioned as one of the bazaar’s inner spaces. When you visit it, you gain a choice between two useful options, allowing the location to add flexibility to your Istanbul game.

• Gather Assistants: Use the Kebab Shop like the original Fountain and gather your Assistants.
• Move your family member: Pay 2 lira to move your family member from any space, except the police station, to another space of your choice to perform an action.

This alternative action creates a direct decision between recovering your Assistants and spending money to reposition your family member. Because the destination can be any space of your choice, the Kebab Shop offers a different way to pursue an action elsewhere in the bazaar.

The Kebab Shop Mini Expansion is produced on card stock rather than the thick cardboard used for the original game tiles. It is a compact, official addition for players who want to replace the Fountain with a new location and a two-option visit effect.
