About this expansion

Lancaster: Henry V – The Power of the King is an expansion for the Lancaster base game, supporting 2–5 players in around 60 minutes. Released in 2012, it consists of two modules that can be added independently or combined.

At the King’s Court introduces royal offices that players compete to claim. Each player uses a personal Lord token, supported by knights and a required tribute such as a voting marker or gold, to apply for positions including Lord High Chancellor, Lord High Constable, and Great Lord Chamberlain.

  • Winning an office can provide official seals, an archer for battles against France, or the first Tudor knight in England.
  • Upgrading a knight may now also provide a bishop.
  • At the end of the game, the number of bishops you hold is multiplied by the seals you acquired for an endgame bonus.

The King’s Resentment brings consequences after every lost conflict. A lack of support creates dishonor, and the new tower offers an additional location where players can place knights while trying to manage the king’s displeasure.

Dishonor remains important through the final scoring. Each player loses one point for every dishonor token held, while the players with the most and second-most tokens lose additional points based on the total dishonor distributed by the king during the game.

When both modules are used together, eight new laws can also be added, referencing materials from the expansion. With offices to contest, rewards to pursue, and penalties to contain, Lancaster: Henry V – The Power of the King adds new ways to seek influence—and new risks when royal support is lost.
