About this expansion

Mosaic: Wars and Disasters is an expansion for 2–6 players, with an approximate play time of 150 minutes, that adds new strategic challenges to the civilization-building journey.

The story of civilizations is shaped by conflict and catastrophe. In this expansion, your civilization must survive wars and disasters or risk faltering as it pursues continued growth.

National Military Powers give each civilization a unique bonus power that activates during Empire Scoring. These distinct abilities add another consideration to scoring and encourage players to explore deeper strategies.

Naval Units expand the possibilities of military action. They cost more than regular army units, but each one gains a trade good and can move quickly around the board to add influence in other regions.

  • National Military Powers: Unique civilization bonuses triggered during Empire Scoring.
  • Naval Units: Costlier military units that gain a trade good and spread influence across regions.
  • War Tiles: Additional variety for the Military Action that can directly affect other players.
  • Disaster Cards: Twelve events that generally hurt players who are not keeping up with their Pillar collections.

Disaster cards are inserted into the four decks, where they trigger events during play. Keeping pace with Pillar collections becomes especially important as these disruptive effects enter the game.

With its combination of civilization-specific military powers, mobile naval forces, interactive war tiles, and threatening disasters, Mosaic: Wars and Disasters adds variety and tension to the experience. The box supports 2–6 players; no rules are included for using its expansion elements in solo play.
