About this expansion

Eighth Air Force is a fast-action World War II aerial-combat card game for 2–8 players, with a listed play time of 20 minutes. It extends Rise of the Luftwaffe into the second half of the war, from 1942 to 1945.

Take command of major fighter and bomber aircraft flown by the German, British, Russian, and United States air forces. The game adds jets, altitude, heavy cannon, and bombers, bringing new dimensions to the Down in Flames series as the conflict develops.

Six new Air Campaigns cover the early U.S. Air Force daylight bombing missions of 1942 through Royal Air Force night bombing missions of 1944. These campaigns capture the pressure of sustaining the wings of the United States Eighth Air Force and the challenge of leading British Lancaster heavy bomber formations at night.

  • The German Me-262 and the dawn of the jet age
  • The British Dam Busters Raid of 1943
  • The German 1942–43 Stalingrad Airlift
  • The Eighth Air Force Schweinfurt Raids of 1943
  • Operation Blue Monday and the destruction of V-1 and V-2 rocket launch sites

The included rule book is designed to supersede the Rise of the Luftwaffe rules, with additions specific to Eighth Air Force discreetly marked in the margins. To play, you need a copy of Rise of the Luftwaffe, Volume One.

With its broad range of aircraft, campaigns, and famous operations, Eighth Air Force offers a compact way to experience the tension and changing technology of aerial combat over Europe during World War II.
