Excavation Earth: Second Wave is a 2021 expansion for 1–4 players with a play time of 120 minutes. It introduces new races, gameplay elements, and scoring options to the Excavation Earth experience.

Two new races join the game: the Collectors and the Influencers. Their arrival expands the ways players can approach the game while adding fresh possibilities for scoring and interaction.

The expansion also introduces the Observation Barge, a new element that lets players further manipulate market demand for artifacts. It also provides a way to score points at the end of the game, giving final scoring an additional focus.

Achievements add a new scoring system based on completing set goals. These objectives offer another route to points and encourage players to pursue specific accomplishments during the game.
