Casting Shadows: The Ice Storm Expansion expands the game for 2–6 players, with an approximate play time of 60 minutes. Released in 2023, it adds new content and mechanics centered on the Freeze and Stun status effects.

This expansion pack includes 2 new characters and 3 new locations, along with new spells, counterspells, companions, and status effect tokens. Together, these additions introduce more options to games of Casting Shadows while supporting play with up to six people.

The Freeze status effect prevents an enemy from using the Travel action on their next turn. The Stun status effect reduces the number of resource dice that enemy gets to roll on their next turn, creating two distinct ways to affect an opponent’s upcoming actions.

Although The Ice Storm Expansion allows Casting Shadows to accommodate up to six players, its new characters and hex tiles can also be used in smaller games. They may be played instead of characters and hex tiles from the base game, making the added content available even when fewer than six people are playing.
