About this expansion

Silent War: IJN – Imperial Japanese Navy is a solo expansion for Silent War, designed for one player and offering campaigns of approximately 120 minutes. Released in 2010, it brings the Imperial Japanese Navy into the game with an extensive collection of new playing pieces and additional rules.

Across two full countersheets, the expansion provides 336 new counters representing every Japanese warship down through the large destroyer escorts. It also includes major auxiliary cargo ships and tankers, giving dedicated Silent War players a broader range of Japanese naval forces to incorporate into their submarine campaigns.

  • 336 new playing pieces across two full countersheets
  • Japanese warships, large destroyer escorts, auxiliary cargo ships, and tankers
  • New rules for loners, crash dive, and targeting escorts
  • Requires the base game Silent War to play

IJN, Imperial Japanese Navy also introduces rules that were later included in the follow-on game Steel Wolves. The additions include loners, crash dive, and targeting escorts, expanding the systems available during your submarine operations while integrating them with the original game.

As the first expansion pack for Compass Games’ award-winning Silent War, this release is designed for players seeking added realism and a more comprehensive representation of Japanese naval forces. It is a must-have addition for any dedicated Silent War player, but a copy of the base game is required before the expansion can be used.
