New Bedford: White Whale Promo is a 2016 promo pack for 1–4 players, adding four new tiles that may be placed in the whaling bag.
Each tile offers a different result when it is drawn and selected. The White Whale is wily and dangerous: it offers a big payout, but claiming it costs you a ship. This creates a striking choice between reward and loss.
- White Whale: A dangerous whale with a big payout that costs you a ship.
- Ambergris: A rare, waxlike whale-produced substance used in perfuming, providing $8 upon return to port.
- Castaway: A lone survivor found on an island who provides an extra action.
- Blue Whale: A whale so enormous that it fills the entire boat, with artwork that barely fits on the tile.
These four additions bring distinct possibilities to the whaling bag, including direct money, an additional action, a costly high-value catch, and the memorable spectacle of the oversized Blue Whale. Their effects make every draw a notable moment without changing the identity of the underlying game.
The White Whale Promo was provided to Kickstarter backers and was packaged separately. It is not included with the Rising Tide expansion, so this promo pack is a separate addition for players who have access to it.
