About this expansion

BATTALIA: The Stormgates is an expansion for 2–6 players with a listed play time of 240 minutes, adding new strategic options to the fast-paced deck-building world of BATTALIA: The Creation.

The expansion introduces material for two additional players, allowing games with up to six participants. Its cooperative Teamplay mode shifts the experience from strictly competitive to partially cooperative, with team members acting simultaneously. The basic six-player format uses three teams of two, while two teams of three are offered as an experimental option.

On the larger map, Stormgates make movement easier while offering unpredictable event bonuses to those who use them. New Kings & Queens cards bring greater power to your deck and provide an alternative to “super-slim deck” strategies. They also enable higher-level cities, including one level 6 capital and two level 5 residences per player.

• Heroic mode: use both heroes for simultaneous attacks, potentially increasing the moral bonus from 1 to 4.
• Bilkarr O’ the Mountain people: a wandering herbalist who supplies six potion types, including Colossus, Weakness, Freezing Touch, Solar Eclipsed, Brotherhood, and Berserker.
• Metamorpha: a changeling whose outfit, influence, and bonuses change according to the terrain where she stands.

Bilkarr moves constantly across the board along hidden paths, while Metamorpha is drawn to newly built terrain and appears directly on the spot. Her influence reaches across the map, affecting every hero standing on the same type of terrain.

With new alliances, simultaneous actions, movement opportunities, characters, and deck-building choices, BATTALIA: The Stormgates expands the game with fresh strategies and unexpected interactions.
