About this expansion

Battlefleet Gothic: Armada is a two-player expansion for Battlefleet Gothic, with games lasting about 120 minutes. Released in 2005, it expands the original game with additional fleet lists, new factions, and further background for its space battles.

Armada is the only expansion for Games Workshop’s Battlefleet Gothic. It broadens the setting beyond the scope of the Gothic War, adding extensive background and flavor text alongside its new fleet content.

The expansion introduces fleets and vessels for several factions that were not present in the original game. Some factions receive only a small number of ships, while others gain a distinct fleet identity within the wider Battlefleet Gothic universe.

  • Tau Empire navy, including Kroot, Demiurg, and Nicassar vessels
  • Dark Eldar corsairs
  • Craftworld Eldar fleet
  • Tyranid Hive Fleets
  • Unique Ork Battleships
  • Necron Harvest Fleets

Armada also introduces many new technologies. These include all-around area-of-effect weapons, added in part because the expansion brings alien races into the game that were not present in the Warhammer universe when Battlefleet Gothic first debuted, including the Tau.

With its expanded fleet lists, newly introduced factions, additional technologies, and substantial setting material, Battlefleet Gothic: Armada offers a broader view of the game’s interstellar conflict. It is designed for two players seeking to extend their Battlefleet Gothic experience with more varied fleets and a richer universe.
