About this expansion

Powerboats: Expansion 1 is an expansion for 2–6 players that adds seven double-sided water tiles to the Powerboats game, which has a 60-minute play time.

These tiles bring new situations to the water. They can put your speedboat in trouble, but they also give you the chance to take advantage of the changing conditions as you race.

Each tile is three water hexes long and has two sides: dark blue and light blue, matching the corresponding sides of the Powerboats game board. This allows the expansion tiles to fit the visual style of the existing game while adding new areas to consider.

The set includes seven tiles in four distinct types:

• 2 Redoubt tiles
• 2 Current tiles
• 2 Maelstrom tiles
• 1 Low-water tile

Powerboats: Expansion 1 is designed to be added completely to Powerboats, extending the game with a compact collection of new water features. The combination of redoubts, currents, maelstroms, and low water creates fresh situations for speedboats to navigate.

Released in 2009, this expansion is a focused addition for players who want more tile variety in their Powerboats sessions. Use its seven tiles to introduce further challenges—and look for opportunities within each new situation.
