About this board game

Near and Far is an exploration board game for 2–4 players, with games taking about 120 minutes. Across more than ten sessions, players journey through new maps in search of the legendary Last Ruin, a city said to hold an artifact capable of granting the heart’s greatest desire.

Each wanderer is driven by a personal hope, such as lost love, redemption, acceptance, or a reunited family. Along the way, you must gather food and equipment in town before setting out, while ensuring you carry enough weapons to face dangers including bandits, living statues, and rusty robots.

• Explore a series of completely new maps, each with unique art and adventures.
• Recruit adventurers, hunt for treasure, and compete to become the most storied traveler.
• Make choices during encounters that help create a different tale each time you play.

Some journeys lead to unusual encounters. When something unique happens, another player reads the outcome from the book of stories, presenting a choice about how to respond. These decisions make each expedition a memorable part of the larger journey.

Near and Far is a sequel to Above and Below and includes its own book of encounters. With a new chapter and map unfolding throughout the story, players must answer the call of the ruins while confronting the greed and inner demons that may stand between them and the Last Ruin.
