Dig Your Way Out: Dig In Expansion is an expansion for 2–6 players with a 60-minute play time, released in 2023. It adds a prison warden and new places that broaden the choices and strategies available during every game of DYWO.

The Warden is a non-playable character who moves around the board, sending bad-mannered inmates to solitary confinement. You can also visit her office and bribe her in advance with cigarettes, allowing her to help you gain an edge over other inmates later.

Dig In introduces optional locations that can replace existing places on the board. Each location works independently, so you can create a different prison layout and explore new tactical possibilities every time you play.

• Library: Rehabilitate yourself to gain a new Background, or become smart enough to spy on other players’ hands.
• Gambling Cells: Gamble with cigarettes and plan your next moves in advance on toilet paper.
• Laundry: Make joining a gang easier and obtain bandages for crafting or healing later.
• Workshop: Improve your digging skills or upgrade Tools you already have.
• Gym: Prepare for future fights or start a brawl involving every player there.
• Psychiatric Ward: Give prisoners psychological Trauma that hinders their actions until it can be healed.

With its modular prison layout, new interactions, and the persistent presence of the Warden, Dig Your Way Out: Dig In Expansion pushes the original game’s replayability further. Choose the locations that suit your plans, manage your opportunities, and find new ways to dig your way out.
