About this expansion
Carson City: The Lawyer / Editor is a special personality card for 2–6 players, released in 2015 as part of Quined Games’ 10th anniversary celebrations. It introduces a character who is a lawyer during the day and an editor during the evening, offering two distinct ways to influence the game.
As the Lawyer, the character may immediately buy a parcel that is not owned by any player, paying its normal price. Nobody can contest the Lawyer when buying a parcel. If another cowboy challenges the Lawyer for that purchase, the challenging cowboy returns to that player’s personal reserve before the duel is resolved. Duels against the Lawyer for all other actions are resolved as usual. The Lawyer has a cash limit of $60.
As the Editor, the character turns success into publicity and victory points. At the end of the income phase, the Editor earns points based on income from all of your buildings, with the threshold increasing each round:
- Round 1: 1 victory point for every $5 of income
- Round 2: 1 victory point for every $10 of income
- Round 3: 1 victory point for every $15 of income
- Round 4: 1 victory point for every $20 of income
The income is rounded up, but income from attacks on other players’ buildings and money those players would have robbed you do not count. For example, $33 of building income in round 2 earns 4 victory points. The Editor has a cash limit of $40.
Included in the Big Box of Carson City, this small expansion is intended for owners of the base game. The Lawyer/Editor was also distributed as an Essen giveaway together with the Teacher, but without the Townhall.
