About this expansion
Battleground: Kingdoms is a campaign system and scenario generator for the Battleground: Fantasy Warfare system, supporting 2–12 players in games of about 60 minutes.
Use map cards and scenario cards to create a wide range of possible battles. For a single normal game, a die roll determines the force levels available to each player, providing a straightforward way to set up a one-off conflict.
For a multi-round campaign, players begin with 1500-point battles and access only to their core units. As the campaign progresses, the size of the battles grows, while players buy buildings that expand their available options.
- Map cards and scenario cards generate different battles.
- Single battles use a die roll to determine force levels.
- Campaigns begin with 1500-point forces and core units.
- Buildings expand players’ options as the campaign develops.
- Later battles can include full armies, dragons, giants, and mercenaries for hire.
By the end of a campaign, players are fighting epic battles with access to their full army. Dragons, giants, and mercenaries for hire add further possibilities to these later conflicts.
Released in 2008, Battleground: Kingdoms offers both a quick way to determine the shape of a single battle and a structured path from modest opening forces to large-scale campaign finales.
