About this expansion
Catan: Hawai’i Scenario is a Hawaiian fishing scenario for Catan: Seafarers for 3–6 players, released in 2017. It brings the exploration and settlement of Seafarers to a beautiful tropical setting, where players set out across the islands in search of victory points.
This scenario requires materials and rules from the Catan base game and the Seafarers expansion. Games with five or six players also require the 5–6 player extensions for both the base game and Seafarers.
Each player begins with three settlements, each accompanied by one road or ship, positioned on at least two islands. From this starting network, players race to settle the islands and become the first to reach the victory-point target for their player count.
- 15 victory points in a 3-player game
- 13 victory points in a 4-player game
- 11 victory points in a 5-player game
- 10 victory points in a 6-player game
The new folio retail package adds a dedicated game play mat and themed components for the scenario. These include 25 fish tokens, six fishing boats, six fish market tiles, fish conversion rules cards, and victory-point markers in six colors for the number of fish ground areas occupied.
With its island-spanning setup and fishing-focused additions, Catan: Hawai’i Scenario offers a distinct way to play Seafarers while preserving the expansion’s emphasis on travel and settlement. Players must build outward from their starting settlements as they pursue the target that matches the size of the game.
