About this expansion
Magna Roma: Dominus is a strategic board game for 2–4 players, released in 2022, with games lasting around 90 minutes. Players compete for control of territories across Europe and North Africa while balancing military strength, prestige, and the value of exported goods.
In Dominus, players contest territories using either combinations of military symbols or combinations of prestige symbols. The struggle continues until the end of the game, when players compare their armies in each territory. The player with the majority takes first place there and scores the most points according to that territory’s condition.
The Dominus board replaces the military board from the base game, providing the setting for this territorial competition. Players must consider how to build their military presence and when prestige-based combinations may offer a better route to influence.
In Portus, neighborhoods can craft goods that are later exported through your port. When you are ready, turn the goods over to the supply and score prestige based on the types of goods you exported. This creates an additional planning challenge, as certain goods may cost population.
- Compete for control of territories in Europe and North Africa.
- Use military-symbol or prestige-symbol combinations.
- Compare armies to determine territorial placement and scoring.
- Craft and export goods through your port for prestige.
- Plan carefully when exports may cost population.
With territorial majority scoring and an economy of crafted exports, Magna Roma: Dominus asks players to plan carefully across several paths to prestige.
