About this expansion
The Anarchy is a 2015 tactical and campaign game for 1–4 players, with an approximate playing time of 180 minutes. It recreates the civil war fought over the succession to the throne of Henry I Beauclerc, King of England and Duke of Normandy, from 1135 to 1154.
The conflict opposed Stephen of Blois and the Empress Matilda, wife of Geoffrey Plantagenet. With numerous castle sieges taking place during this period, the game provides an opportunity to update the siege rules used across the Game: Cry Havoc System.
This tactical game features several siege engines, including a new, larger battering ram designed to be more realistic than the one included in Siege. The Anarchy is an extension to Guiscard and Diex Aïe, and the rules for one of those two games—available as a free download—are required to play.
- Three full-color tactical maps featuring different terrain possibilities
- Overlays for siege engines, hoarding, and scaffolding
- Full-color tactical and campaign counters
- A full-color campaign map
- A 36-page rule booklet and a 36-page booklet with historical background, piece guidance, and scenarios
- Eight handy reference play sheets and one 10-sided die
The included scenarios support both tactical play and a campaign game, while the historical background and playing-piece guide provide context for the conflict. An optional counter tray is also available from the Shoppe of Cry Havoc Fan.
The Anarchy is available in English or French editions, with both booklets and all play sheets provided in the selected language.
