About this expansion

Treasure Mountain: Caverns of Gandum is a 1–4 player board game with an approximately 120-minute play time, released in 2019. Set deep within Treasure Mountain, it brings dwarven legend to life through magical crystals, powerful spells, and new challenges for miners.

According to legend, the dwarf wizard Gandum created the Mana Stone, a relic capable of infusing ordinary rock with magical energy. When the greedy Dragon Lord Rizz tried to claim its power, Gandum cast himself and the Mana Stone into a subterranean abyss. Ages later, dwarven miners uncover caverns filled with glowing crystals, proving the legend true.

The Cavern of Gandum introduces two major elements to Treasure Mountain: spells and the automa deck. Spells let players bend the rules while placing dwarves, collecting resources, and fighting dragons. They are powered by purple mana gems, which can be mined from new mine tile types or gathered from new spaces on the expansion board.

  • Spells: Use purple mana gems to fuel magical effects during key game activities.
  • Automa decks: Add solo play and enhanced two-player experiences through dummy players.
  • New locations and tiles: Discover magical crystal caverns and additional ways to gather mana.

Dummy player actions are controlled by the automa decks, providing a structured way to play alone or include an additional simulated presence in a two-player game. Players should become familiar with the base game before using this expansion.

With its legendary Mana Stone, glowing crystals, and rule-bending magic, Treasure Mountain: Caverns of Gandum expands the original experience with a mysterious subterranean setting and new ways to approach dwarven mining, resources, and dragon encounters.
