About this board game

六華 (Rikka) is a 20-minute game for 2–5 players that recreates the experience of the traditional game Mahjong in an accessible format. Each player works to complete a role faster than everyone else by exchanging the six tiles in their hand with tiles on the field.

On your turn, the action is simple: draw one tile from the field, then discard one. Despite these straightforward rules, every choice can open up different possibilities. By switching the tiles in your hand up and down, you can change the role you are pursuing and consider a range of options.

Rikka keeps its role system easy to approach, with only three types of roles to complete. The game ends as soon as someone completes a role, making each turn part of a race to finish first.

When a player completes a role, they take scoring chips according to that role. Collecting 10 or more scoring chips earns the title of fireworks master, giving the game a clear longer-term goal across its scoring.
