1001 Islands

About this board game

1001 Islands is a tile-selection and distribution game for 2–5 players, playable in about 30 minutes. As the children of Sinbad, you explore the 1001 islands in search of your father’s treasures while building the most rewarding personal island.

The game lasts 16 rounds. In each round, the active player draws a number of tiles equal to the number of players, keeps one, and adds it to their personal board. The remaining tiles are passed to a player of their choice, creating a changing flow of choices around the table.

The player who receives the final tile has no choice about what to take, but gains an important benefit: they begin the next round. This simple distribution system makes every selection matter as players balance the tiles they want against the options they are willing to pass along.

• Match dream tiles with what is visible on your island to score points.
• Palm trees provide points on their own.
• Pair a Rukh bird with its huge egg for additional scoring.
• Beware of collecting too many bandits, which cost points.
• A third magic lamp forces you to flip two tiles face down, losing their potential points.

Dream tiles reward careful planning: a Fennec fox dream tile is far more valuable when your island actually shows Fennec foxes. At the end of the game, players tally their points from their island and dreams, including bonuses and penalties from the tiles they collected.

With its compact play time and evolving tile choices, 1001 Islands combines personal island building with shared decisions about which tiles to keep and where to send the rest.
