About this board game

1806: Rossbach Avenged is a two-player game with an approximately 120-minute play time, covering Napoleon’s 1806 confrontation with the Prussian Army around Jena and Auerstadt.

Set at 1600 hours on October 13, 1806, the game places players in the tense situation before the coming battle. Napoleon and Lannes observe the Prussian campfires from the Windknolle, while Saxon General Tauenzien holds the Dornberg after giving up the Landgrafenberg and the bridge over the Saale. Napoleon realizes that the entire Prussian Army is nearby, but incorrectly believes it is preparing to fight him there.

The following day, Napoleon and most of the French forces will fight here, while Davout’s III Corps faces the bulk of the Prussian Army at Auerstadt. This setting creates a campaign framework that connects the events and positions surrounding the opening of the engagement.

1806: Rossbach Avenged uses the Six Days of Glory System, also identified as the DAYS System. Each hex represents 1,600 meters, each game turn covers six hours, and each strength point represents approximately 800–1,000 men.

  • Nine scenarios, ranging from meeting engagements to a full campaign
  • A campaign scenario that can begin on any day
  • Two 22" × 34" full-color maps designed by Joe Youst
  • 280 two-sided unit counters by Rodger MacGowan
  • One 11" × 17" order-of-battle display for each player

The order-of-battle displays support quick setup and allow the entire campaign to be set up or replayed day by day. Designed for two players or two teams and released in 1998, the game offers a focused way to explore this pivotal 1806 situation through multiple scenarios and a complete campaign.
