About this board game
1812: The Invasion of Canada is a 2–5 player board game about the War of 1812, with play time of approximately 120 minutes. Players take the roles of major factions on the British or American side and work together to shape the campaign.
The year is 1812. While Britain is engaged in a desperate struggle against Napoleon across Europe and Russia, the young United States declares war on Britain on June 18. Seeking to defend its sovereign rights and strengthen its position in North America, the United States invades Canada, hoping to drive Britain from its last remaining colony on the continent.
In the game, the British side is represented by the British Regulars, Canadian Militia, and Native Americans. The American side consists of the American Regular Army and American Militia. Players on each side cooperate with one another to plan and conduct their campaigns across the map.
- Play as one of the major factions involved in the War of 1812.
- Coordinate with your allies on the same side.
- Attempt to capture Objective Areas controlled by the enemy.
- Compete for control when a truce is called.
Victory depends on territorial control. When the truce is called, the side controlling the most enemy Objective Areas wins. This creates a focused contest between British and American forces, with cooperation within each side central to the outcome.
