About this board game

1944: Race to the Rhine is a 90-minute board game for 1–3 players about planning an Allied advance across Europe and forming a bridgehead before the enemy closes the gaps.

Victory depends on more than moving boldly forward. Your tanks need gas to move, your forces need ammunition to fight, and your GIs must be fed. With supplies limited, every transport priority matters as you decide how to support your advance.

The game presents a challenging planning experience in which preparation shapes your route to the Rhine. You may choose to follow General Patton’s approach, discarding ammunition to bring additional fuel barrels and push ahead. You could also risk your prestige with a gamble on Market-Garden, as Field Marshal Montgomery did, or attempt to cross the Rhine faster than General Bradley through hard work and a little luck.

  • Players: 1–3
  • Play time: approximately 90 minutes
  • Core challenge: balance gas, ammunition, and food while advancing
  • Objective: form a bridgehead on the Rhine before the other players and the enemy

Each decision reflects the pressure of a campaign where there is not enough gas, ammunition, or time to do everything. The road to victory calls for careful planning, calculated risks, and the ability to adapt when luck affects your progress.

Inspired by the famous principle that plans may be useless but planning is indispensable, 1944: Race to the Rhine asks you to decide how your campaign will unfold. Will you prioritize fuel, preserve your prestige, or commit to a faster route? Your planning determines your chance of personal glory.
