About this board game

3 Kings is a game of deception, trickery, and power for 3–8 players, with matches lasting about 90 minutes. Players take on the roles of leaders of powerful factions, each seeking to impose their will on a triumvirate awaiting the nomination of a new king.

The struggle depends on intelligence, strength, and secrecy. You must support your allies and place them on the throne while keeping their identities hidden from the other players. Every decision can reveal—or conceal—the loyalties shaping the contest.

A match is played over four turns. During each turn, players manage their hands and secretly plan their strategies before using cards to interfere with opposing plans and advance their own.

  • Secret planning: Manage your hand and prepare strategies without exposing your allies.
  • Player interaction: Use played cards to interact with the strategies of the other players.
  • Hand-building: Develop your hand as the match progresses.
  • Intrigue voting: Vote during the intrigue phase to directly eliminate enemy kings’ pretenders to the throne.

Killings, sabotage, bluffs, and shifting influence make every turn a contest of concealed intentions. The challenge is not simply to gain power, but to do so without allowing rival leaders to understand which pretenders—and which factions—you truly support.

With its focus on hidden identities, direct interaction, and votes that can remove opposing pretenders, 3 Kings creates a tense battle for control of the triumvirate. Manage your cards carefully, mislead your opponents, and impose your will before the new king is chosen.
