About this board game

4 Seasons is a two-player card game that plays in about 15 minutes, with both players competing for control of four colored categories.

The game features four categories: pure, dawn, spiral, and faith. Each category has 12 cards with values from 1 to 3. The cards are dealt so that both players have a mix of cards with the same values in their decks, while some cards are secretly removed from play.

On each turn, a player presents two cards from their hand face up. The opponent chooses one card and places it on their side of the board, increasing their power in that card’s category. The unchosen card is set aside to contribute to that category’s score at the end of the game.

  • Two players compete directly across four categories.
  • Four colored categories divide the contest into separate areas of power.
  • Values 1–3 determine the strength represented by the cards.
  • Opponent choice decides which card enters play and which card contributes to scoring.

Players alternate turns until every card has been distributed. They then compare their strength in each category. Whoever has the most strength in a category wins all the points assigned to it, and the player who collects the most points wins the game.

With its short play time and direct card decisions, 4 Seasons creates a focused contest in which every pair of presented cards gives the opponent a choice while shaping the final score.
