About this board game
5th Fleet: Modern Naval Combat in the Indian Ocean is a two-to-four-player modern naval combat simulation with a listed play time of 1,200 minutes. Set across the vast Indian Ocean, it examines the strengths and weaknesses of the Soviet and American navies and their respective allies.
Far from their home bases, each superpower must protect its capital ships, attack submarines, and limited air assets from devastating missile, torpedo, and bomb attacks. At the same time, players must seek opportunities to inflict maximum damage on the opposing force.
The conflict is shaped by more than naval firepower. Shifting military and political alliances can strongly affect the future of war in these troubled waters, while the presence of the modern Indian Navy introduces another important variable to the situation.
- Modern naval combat in the Indian Ocean
- Soviet and American forces, their allies, and the Indian Navy
- Capital ships, attack submarines, and limited air assets
- Missile, torpedo, and bomb attacks
- A multitude of options and strategies
As the fourth game in Victory Games’ popular Fleet Series, 5th Fleet continues the line’s focus on realistic simulations of modern naval combat. Its broad setting, competing alliances, and emphasis on protecting valuable forces while damaging the enemy create a demanding examination of superpower conflict at sea.
