About this board game

A.D. 30: Jesus’ Journey to Jerusalem is a reverent solitaire board game for one player, played in about 60 minutes. It follows Jesus from His baptism in the River Jordan to His triumphant entry into Jerusalem.

Throughout the journey, you make decisions that affect the outcome of Jesus’ travels and teachings. The game includes thirteen possible alternate outcomes, creating a strategic challenge with the possibility of both success and failure. These outcomes are included to support gameplay and do not suggest that other historical outcomes were possible.

Events draw the attention of political and religious leaders, represented by Caiaphas, Herod Antipas, and Pontius Pilate. Each leader advances along a track on the board, moving step by step toward the final space, “Arrest in Jerusalem.” When a leader reaches that space, an attempt is made to arrest Jesus.

Each turn gives you opportunities to respond to these developments while assembling the people and conditions needed for the journey’s goal. To pursue the Major Victory, you must:

• Assemble all twelve apostles.
• Maintain a high level of piety.
• Enter Jerusalem at the right time.
• Ensure that Judas betrays Jesus in Jerusalem.

Events tend to push Jesus toward Jerusalem, but entering too early can prevent important pieces from falling into place. A.D. 30 combines decision-making, escalating pressure, and historical objectives in a focused solo experience rated 3 out of 9 for complexity and 9 out of 9 for solitaire suitability.
