About this expansion

A Feast for Odin: Mini Expansion #2 is an expansion for 1–4 players with an approximate play time of 120 minutes, released in 2019. It adds new components and variant rules to the Viking experience, including exploration destinations, 1×1 tiles, randomized harvests, and resource markers.

Explore the new Isle of Mull with the 1 Viking Exploration action. It provides income of up to 4 silver, is worth 9 VP, and offers bonuses including salt meat, ore, wood, goldgubber, egg, stone, and an altar. The altar is a special six-space tile that can only be obtained through this island’s bonus.

The reverse side introduces Caithness, a half-island obtainable with the 3 Viking Exploration action. It provides income of up to 5 silver, is worth 24 VP, and offers fur, amber, stone, and sword bonuses.

  • Four new 1×1 tile types: berries, eggs, amber, and gullgubber.
  • Eight harvest tokens that randomize the harvest for each round.
  • Ten resource markers that add resources to players’ harvests according to the round’s harvest conditions.
  • An accelerated start for six-round games, giving each player an artisan shed and 3 extra silver.

During setup, players choose resource markers in reverse turn order: one each in a seven-round game and two each in a six-round game. Harvest tokens determine the first harvest and subsequent rounds, while resource markers are flipped during the Harvest phase to provide their depicted bonus.

Finally, the expansion includes recommendations for removing occupation cards: 8 cards are banned for being overly strong, and 30 more are suggested for removal to create a broader average selection of useful and less specialized occupations. A Feast for Odin: Mini Expansion #2 offers several ways to vary exploration, harvesting, and setup.
