About this board game

Adamastor is a 1-2 player cooperative game that puts you in command of a Portuguese vessel during the Age of Discovery, with each voyage taking about 15 minutes.

Choose between a historical scenario based on Vasco da Gama’s trip to India or a custom scenario in which the map changes from game to game. As the fleet advances, you must maintain order and prevent a mutiny that could bring the journey to an early end.

Every round presents fresh challenges. Adverse weather and unpredictable storms threaten the voyage, while unrest, fatigue, and disease spread among the crew. The game represents these hardships through a growing collection of trauma cards, steadily making your task more difficult.

• A 54-card deck, markers, and one pawn tracking your fleet’s position
• Hand and tableau management with cards that offer multiple uses
• Events triggered by specific combinations of icons in play
• Cooperative play for one or two players

Each card in play can help or hinder your expedition. Most triggered events are harmful, but some provide assistance, so careful management of your available cards is essential. Decisions made in one moment can shape the dangers you face during the next stage of the journey.
