About this board game
After Pablo is a 2–4-player board game with a 120-minute play time, set in 1994 after Pablo Escobar’s death and the dismantling of Colombia’s Medellin cartel.
Escobar’s removal appears to be a victory for the DEA, but the triumph is short-lived. The Mexican cartels see an opening to establish a new organized trade, shifting the center of power from Colombia to Mexico as the primary distributor of narcotics.
In After Pablo, each player controls a cartel competing to establish leadership and command of the drug market. Success requires building influence while maintaining the business of your operations, balancing the drive for greater control with the need to keep your cartel functioning.
The game unfolds over several seasons, tracing the struggle that follows the collapse of Medellin’s dominance. As the old order gives way, players work to take command of the narco trade and position their cartel as the power capable of filling the gap left by Escobar’s death.
