About this board game
Age of Dirt: A Game of Uncivilization is a 2–5 player board game with a 45-minute play time, set at the dawn of civilization. Each player controls a small tribe and sends workers out to gather the resources needed to grow and thrive.
The central challenge is The Passage, a three-dimensional, mountain-shaped tower. Before collecting resources, all workers sent to a resource space must be dropped through it. They tumble, get stuck, and may not all emerge, so the workers who finally come out can be very different from those originally sent.
Send workers to the forest for wood and berries, and they might instead appear in the mountains to collect herbs or on the plains to hunt for fur. They may also end up in the Love Tent, making your population larger. Predators can come out of The Passage as well, while some workers might not return at all.
- Drop workers through a physical, three-dimensional mountain tower.
- Gather wood, berries, herbs, fur, and other useful outcomes.
- Use resources to arm workers with spears and drums, build a larger cave, or create inventions.
- Earn victory points for your tribe and race to the winning total.
Resources collected by your workers let you develop your tribe in several ways. Spears and drums can arm workers, a larger cave can support your growing tribe, and inventions earn victory points.
With its unpredictable worker movement and playful prehistoric setting, Age of Dirt makes every trip through The Passage an uncertain gamble. The first player to reach 10 victory points wins.
