About this expansion
Air Strike is a 1-6 player, 60-minute module for Air Superiority that brings modern air-to-ground combat to the system. Players conduct strikes against targets on the ground while facing antiaircraft artillery, surface-to-air missiles, and the dangers of varied terrain.
The rules expand the original system with terrain-following flight, strafing, bombing, and a wide selection of air-to-ground weapons. Ground attack options include iron bombs, laser-guided bombs, and radar-seeking missiles, while ground defenses include AAA and SAM systems.
Air Strike adds 32 base aircraft types and their variants to the Air Superiority system. The aircraft roster includes the A-10 Warthog, F-15 Strike Eagle, Harrier II, Alpha Jet, SU-25, and MIG-27. Trucks, tanks, infantry, radar sites, and other ground targets are represented as well—but targets on today’s battlefield can shoot back.
- Six multi-color maps depicting varied and treacherous terrain
- 480 die-cut counters for aircraft, weapons, defenses, vehicles, and targets
- 25 scenarios set from the Mideast to Germany, Afghanistan, and Africa
- Solitaire, two-player, and multiplayer scenarios
Designed to retain Air Superiority’s easy-to-learn format, the rules use a programmed structure followed by scenarios that demonstrate their application. A briefing booklet explains the abilities and limitations of the aircraft and weapons, supported by a data card booklet and game charts.
Released in 1987, Air Strike provides a broad range of tactical situations for players looking to combine aircraft operations, ground attacks, and air-defense threats in one simulation.
