About this board game

Airships is a tactical dice game for 2–4 players, with sessions lasting around 60 minutes. Players develop their own airship hangars and work toward building an impressive fleet, culminating in the famous Hindenburg.

Progress depends on cleverly combining three colored dice with the values shown on cards. These dice provide more than a simple element of chance: they are resources to manage and a means of purchasing further resources, creating a game where the best combinations matter.

To support your airship-building efforts, you need the right foundations. The game’s development includes:

  • Constructing hangars
  • Taking on engineers
  • Building engines
  • Developing workshops

The aim is to assemble the strongest combination of these elements and successfully take part in building the Hindenburg. Every decision involves weighing the values available on the cards against the opportunities provided by your colored dice.

Airships offers a more tactical experience than a straightforward dice game. Its dice-management and resource-purchasing systems make it comparable to games such as Kingsburg and To Court the King, while its distinctive focus remains the construction of zeppelins and a fleet of airships.

With artwork by Jo Hartwig and a 2007 release, Airships combines development, dice, cards, and the grand ambition of dirigible construction in a focused contest for the best-equipped hangar.
