About this board game

Aladdin’s Dragons is a card game for 2–5 players that plays in about 30 minutes. Set in ancient Eastern lands, it casts players as heroes competing for dragon treasures, palace privileges, and magical artifacts.

This card game version carries the same title as the award-winning board game published by Rio Grande and Hans im Glück. It uses a double pack of cards and unfolds over a series of rounds, usually four or five in total.

Each round is divided into three phases. First, new artifact and treasure cards are laid out. Next, players play their hero cards into the various locations, positioning their heroes as they compete for the rewards and advantages available there.

  1. Reveal: Lay out new artifact and treasure cards.
  2. Play heroes: Place hero cards into the different locations.
  3. Resolve locations: Determine the results at each location.

The setting brings a classic adventure into focus: fierce dragons guard valuable treasures, and the heroes must compete among themselves for privileges that can smooth their path to the Caliph’s palace. Once they reach the palace, powerful guards stand in their way. Passing them requires the right influence—or, failing that, generous bribes.

Inside the palace, hard-won treasures become part of a final contest of acquisition. Players barter their treasures for magical artifacts, striving to collect the most and earn the praise of the Caliph. With its compact card format and clearly structured rounds, Aladdin’s Dragons presents a focused competition built around treasure, influence, and artifact collecting.
