About this board game

Alcazar is a board game for 2–5 players that takes about 60 minutes, centered on building castles and villas. The larger your buildings become, the more people can live inside them and the more valuable they are.

Expansion comes with a risk. Bigger buildings require more space, and an opponent’s large castle or villa may be able to “eat” one of your smaller buildings. A growing estate can therefore become both your greatest asset and a potential target.

The people connected to your buildings are landlords, and losing a building can cost them their house and furniture. However, careful timing offers a way to protect their value: sell for enough at the right moment and receive hidden silver instead.

Alcazar rewards players who balance ambition with timing. You want to create the biggest buildings possible, but you must also watch the available space and anticipate when an opponent’s development could overwhelm your own.

The winner is the player with the biggest buildings and the most money. Released in 2009, Alcazar focuses on a clear tension between expanding your properties, preserving what you have built, and selling before circumstances turn against you.

With its combination of construction, competition for space, valuable buildings, and hidden silver, Alcazar offers a direct contest over who can build the most impressive estate while managing the danger that growth brings.
