Alpine Trails

About this board game

Alpine Trails is a board game for 1–5 players that takes about 30 minutes, inviting you to design a trail system in a Rocky Mountain national forest.

Each player develops a park by simultaneously drawing two random tiles and placing them into their own landscape. As the trail system grows, you will shape routes through different habitats, pass by waterfalls, and decide where to develop campsites or leave areas pristine for alpine wildlife.

Points come from creating and arranging features across your park. Your design can reward a long out-n-back trail, broad areas of contiguous habitats, carefully surrounded waterfalls, and trails that reach lakes.

The simultaneous tile draw keeps everyone developing their parks at the same time, while each placement contributes to the evolving shape of a personal forest landscape. Released in 2024, Alpine Trails offers a focused way to create a Rocky Mountain park filled with trails, habitats, waterfalls, lakes, campsites, and protected spaces for wildlife. Every park reflects the choices made during its tile-by-tile construction.
