About this board game
Android is a 3–5 player board game of murder and conspiracy in a dystopian future, with games lasting about 180 minutes. Over two in-game weeks, detectives travel between New Angeles and the moon colony Heinlein while pursuing leads and confronting their personal lives.
Each round gives players action points to spend on movement, following leads, calling in favors, solving personal demons, and taking location-specific actions. These choices advance three connected areas: solving the murder, uncovering the conspiracy behind it, and finding inner peace.
- Murder investigation: Follow leads appearing across New Angeles and Heinlein, then find evidence to plant on the suspect of your choice.
- Conspiracy puzzle: Pursue leads to uncover the hidden conspiracy, which can change how victory points are distributed.
- Personal plots: Gradually resolve your detective’s individual story. Invest enough time to earn victory points, or suffer penalties if the plot is left unresolved.
Android’s mechanics ensure that no two detectives play alike. You might play Louis Blaine, a crooked cop troubled by guilt and loss, or Caprice Nisei, a psychic clone struggling to retain her sanity while proving her humanity. Each detective brings a different personal challenge to the investigation.
The game ends after 12 rounds. Victory points are then awarded across the murder investigation, conspiracy, and personal plot objectives. The player with the most victory points wins, provided they can balance the pursuit of the killer with the darker problems following them throughout the case.
